A good weather forecast was predicted for our second cruise to Chatham Maritime Marina, steady force 3 gusting 4. This was the ideal trip for Alan to put his new boat, Domino, through its paces. After a pleasant journey down the length of the Foulness Sands we soon approached the mouth of the River Medway. As we neared Sheerness a large Ro-Ro ferry was leaving the river followed by a bow wave the size of a small tsunami. An hour or so later we were through the lock and tied up in Chatham Maritime Marina. Time for a bit of retail therapy at the nearby outlet centre. The evening meal was taken at a nearby buffet style Chinese restaurant where everybody certainly had their fill.
An early afternoon lock had been booked for the start of the return journey. This gave us plenty of time to cross the Thames and arrive at South Shoebury SHB an hour before high tide. Essex Girl guided us across the sand and through Havengore Bridge. The sun broke through the clouds just in time to warm the remainder of the journey through Narrow Cuts and Middleway into the Roach.
